Head of Commercial Real Estate and Structured Credit
Kathy Farrell is head of Commercial Real Estate and Structured Credit for Truist Financial Corporation, a purpose-driven financial services organization committed to inspiring and building better lives and communities.
In addition to traditional commercial real estate banking activity, Truist’s Commercial Real Estate practice includes Truist Community Capital, which participates in tax credit investment activity in Low Income Tax Credits (LIHTC), New Markets Tax Credits, SBICs and community development funds, as well as Grandbridge, a Fannie Mae delegated underwriting and servicing (DUS) lender and Freddie Mac Optigo lender. Farrell also has oversight responsibility for Truist’s Premium Finance and Structured Credit businesses, including asset-based lending, equipment finance, and working capital solutions. She serves as a member of Truist’s Operating Council.
Farrell has served as head of Commercial Real Estate since 2019 and her responsibilities expanded to include premium finance and structured credit in 2024. She previously held roles of increasing responsibility at PNC. Her career spans more than 25 years in real estate finance and banking, including origination, underwriting, capital markets, work out strategies, and risk management. Farrell is involved with various industry organizations, including the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) and the Real Estate Roundtable (RER), where she is a co-chair of the Real Estate Capital Policy Advisory Committee.
Active in her community, Farrell currently serves as the Board Chair of the Truist Foundation, as Chairperson of The Atlanta Beltline Partnership, and as a board member of both the West Side Future Fund and The Catholic Foundation of North Georgia.
Farrell earned a bachelor’s degree from The College of the Holy Cross and resides in Atlanta.
