Chief Information Officer

Steve Hagerman is chief information officer of Truist Financial Corporation, a purpose-driven financial services organization committed to inspiring and building better lives and communities. He is responsible for shaping and executing a vision for the company’s technology future and leading the outstanding Enterprise Technology team. As CIO, Steve oversees Truist’s comprehensive technology strategy and infrastructure, including data & analytics, Generative AI, information security, core technology, technology transformation, and more. He is also a member of the Operating Council. 

Steve is a seasoned and inspirational leader with more than 25 years of experience across a range of technology and engineering roles, primarily in the financial services industry. His career spans across systems engineering, line-of-business technology, and leadership of high-performing functional and divisional teams. Throughout his career, Steve has focused on serving clients, inspiring performance, enhancing infrastructure, and driving business results through technology innovation. 

Prior to joining Truist in October 2024, Steve held positions as CIO for consumer technology, chief technology officer, and head of consumer lending technology at Wells Fargo. Previously, he held several senior leadership positions at JPMorgan Chase and served in the United States Marine Corps. Steve earned his Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Franklin University and attended Wharton Executive Education’s Chief Technology Officer program.
