SunTrust Foundation Donates $100,000 to American Red Cross to Aid in Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief

ATLANTA, Aug. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the SunTrust Foundation announced a $100,000 grant to the American Red Cross to assist the thousands of Southeast Texas residents impacted by the flash floods and destruction left in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

"Our thoughts go to the families who've lost their homes and businesses due to the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey," said David Fuller, president of the SunTrust Foundation. "Our donation to the American Red Cross will help them rebuild during this difficult time."

Established in 2008, the SunTrust Foundation supports American Red Cross disaster relief efforts and primarily focuses grants and activities on advancing financial education, financial counseling, career readiness and small business entrepreneurship, in addition to local community grants.

Hundreds of Red Cross volunteers and staff from all over the country are on the ground now, working to provide safe shelter and comfort to people impacted by this devastating storm. The Red Cross has enough shelter supplies in Texas to support 28,000 people and supplies for an additional 22,000 people are being delivered.

People who want to help others affected by the storm can visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS or text the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
