Liz Guthrie

Head of Enterprise Transformation

Liz Guthrie leads enterprise transformation for Truist Financial Corporation, a purpose-driven financial services organization committed to inspiring and building better lives and communities. She oversees an organization focused on operationalizing corporate strategy, defining and driving transformational initiatives.  She is also a member of  Truist’s Operating Council. 

Guthrie joined Truist from Wells Fargo where she was a member of the Wealth and Investment Management (WIM) Operating Committee and led a team responsible for transforming the WIM business, including banking and lending services, planning, investments and operational, digital and technology-based interactions. Previously, Guthrie led Wells Fargo’s Enterprise Innovation and R&D team, focused exploring new business concepts and technologies to drive the next generation of financial services. Prior to that role, Guthrie was Chief Operating Officer for banking, lending and trust within WIM, responsible for strategy and analytics, initiative management, governance, shared services, and operational business support. She also led a team responsible for WIM-wide strategic planning, major program implementations, and other WIM efforts connected to enterprise initiatives. 

Before joining Wells Fargo, Guthrie was head of wholesale disbursement products at Bank of America responsible for traditional product management as well as the global development, launch and management of award-winning digital payment services. She also led global payment innovation to identify and pilot mobile payment products. 

Prior to joining Bank of America, Guthrie led the dot com business at Lowe’s Companies, including the development of customer- and associate-facing mobile strategies. She also served as director of corporate strategy, identifying new, non-core global growth opportunities as well as domestic real estate strategies and new store concepts. She also worked for a payments strategy consulting and M&A Advisory firm primarily serving merchants, credit card issuers, and credit card networks. 

Guthrie has a bachelor’s in economics from the University of Virginia and an MBA from UVA’s Darden School of Business.
