Grant Harbrecht

Chief Audit Officer

Grant Harbrecht is chief audit officer of Truist Financial Corporation, a purpose-driven financial services organization committed to inspiring and building better lives and communities.

Harbrecht was named chief audit officer on April 15, 2024. He is also a member of the Truist Operating Council.

He joined Truist in October 2019 as the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO). As CCO, he oversaw the development, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of enterprise-wide and line of business compliance risk management and ethics programs covering the holding company and all affiliates. He was also responsible for leading the identification, assessment, mitigation and reporting processes to senior management and the Board of Directors to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and Truist policies and internal procedures.

Prior to joining Truist, Harbrecht spent five years at Fifth Third Bancorp serving in a variety of executive leadership roles including as the CCO, chief ethics officer and interim general counsel.

Prior to Fifth Third, he spent 17 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in a variety of compliance and legal leadership positions having served as the head of compliance for the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions, and as an assistant general counsel.

Harbrecht graduated from the University of Dayton honors program magna cum laude where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in economics and finance. He also earned a juris doctor from Vanderbilt University School of Law.
